Adopting a child is an overlooked way to start a family that has many benefits.

Blog 2: Expert Interview

February 4, 2022

Introduction:

Hello Listeners and readers and this is my second blog post for my COM112 Audio Visual Software Packages class. Throughout this course so far we have been given the opportunity to interview those on the street about a topic of choice. Gaining knowledge and opinions of those on the street gave us the opportunity to record, cut and use different sound effects on Adobe Audition. This blog was used to establish a clear understanding of both their opinions on the topic and how to use these Adobe applications.

During this segment of the blog post I set out to find an expert on an often overlooked topic. I knew I had the perfect person to interview my topic of choice, which was the lingering opinion that Adopting a child is an overlooked way to start a family that has many benefits.

About My Expert:

My expert of choice is a student of High Point University and a close friend of mine Nyla Holly. We both were adopted at a very young age and I felt as though her knowledge on the topic would align with mine. Nyla was adopted at the age of three months old. I chose this topic because I noticed over time how passionate she was about this topic. She uses this platform to show everyone around her that no matter the situation there is always a possible positive outcome. When I interviewed her I told her to prepare facts aligned with her adoption experience.

RadioLab Arc:

I feel as if my expert interview aligns with the Radio Lab Arc because going into the interview I only had the basic knowledge of adoption down due to the fact I was personally adopted. Throughout the interview I gained new knowledge, the more in depth version of all statistics and methods of adoption and why it is such a beneficial process without biased input.

Takeaway:

My biggest takeaway from this experience while using Adobe audition was using the tools for selection. While learning the ropes of both the razor tool and selection tool I was able to cut out background noise and shorten minutes from the audio files on Multitrack. I also learned how to make tracks around.
